There are times when a career that is glittering hides some of the darkest tales. Lolo Jones, who was the winner of the USA and the World Olympic Games for the hurdle in 2013, only been able to achieve this level through a great deal of dedication and perseverance. Jones was the sole child of a five-child family as well as grew up in a slum. Jones's mother travelled frequently and lived in a church basement. Jones was forced to move into a new school every throughout her senior year as a result of her nomadic life. Brandt was born and raised in Cape Town in South Africa. Her family moved to Auckland New Zealand with her family in her teens. Brandt, discovered by local casting agents became the main character Naevia on the Starz blockbusters Spartacus Blood and Sand and Spartacus Gods of the Arena. In collaboration with the producers Steven S. D Knight and Sam Raimi she captivated audiences by her acting and was one the show's breakout performers. She was on the show's hit Netflix show Lucifer that ran for a six year run playing the fan favorite Vertigo/DC comic book character Mazikeen. Lucifer was a smash hit and broke binge records and was named the most binge-watched show of 2021 by Forbes. Brandt's next appearance is in one of the six episodes in a Walking Dead spinoff in 2024 in the role of Andrew Lincoln and Danai Gurrira. Other Netflix shows include animated adult drama Captain Fall starring Jason Ritter as well as Anthony Carrigan and Chris Meloni. This will start airing in July 2023.
